Apologies for the title–just a way of getting your attention–and just as gross–but in a different way from the one you expected.
The pictures at the top of this page show the cracks that appeared in our bedroom the day the window was replaced. We didn’t discover this mess until bedtime–and you can imagine the sort of night’s sleep we had. And the stress didn’t last for just that sleepless night, but for lots of nights to come.
There was cracking on both sides of the bay, following the joints where the bay butted on to the outside wall of the house. The two lines of cracks went from beneath the skirting board right up to the window sill. Above that line, the existing double glazing units were pulled off the outside wall and twisted out of square. Click on EAS broke my house and you can see a video where I walk and talk you through exactly what EAS did wrong and the battle we had to get them to put it right.
Now look at the pictures below. Both photos are of the same crack –the photo on the left was taken the day after the damage. And on the right the same crack, 3 months later. YES–it’s wider (now you can actually see daylight through it!!). Movement in the bay had clearly continued during the weeks of hassle and stalling by EAS–even though EAS denied it ( but, of course, they hadn’t actually bothered to take any measurements, so what would they know!)
Wider still and wider
